The entire response was a mixture of non-answer and multiple answers. It’s pretty clear that Belichick has a case of the flu, but the truth is that he does, in fact, have close to one hundred rings. Here’s how the number is figured:
– Did you hear the Sportscenter reference? Yes, Bill Belichick did utter that phrase on Sports center during the Super Bowl XLII victory over the Indianapolis Colts. In fact, he used it more than once. There were indeed several times when he used it as an answer when reporters asked about his team’s chances of winning the Super Bowl. So how many rings does Bill Belichick actually have, then?
– The official NFL website gives Bill Belichick: the number of rings he has with the New England Patriots. However, the site doesn’t specify which team he played for. Bill Belichick was a defensive player for the scrappy New York Giants for three seasons. There’s no telling how many defensive NFL games he played for those teams, though. So if there’s a number on the website, we might never know for sure just how many he actually has.
– The players and coaches: on the Boston Bruins have a great collection of rings, too. Among them is a ring that belongs to Tom Brady. The interesting thing here is that Brady actually got his first ring with the team while he was with the Flyers. How many rings did Bill Belichick have when he joined the Bruins?
– Tom Brady is currently wearing a ring, too, that belongs to him: Now, one could argue that this is more than Tom Brady can wear, considering that he is now the face of the team. So who else has a collection of rings these days, besides Tom Brady? Bradenton Martell, of course.
Now, for the record, I gave Bill Belichick four rings: I don’t think that’s bad, although I think that I’m smarter than most people are. I’d say I’ve earned at least that much. Of course, if there’s one player in the National Football League that deserves all the Super Bowl rings that they’ve recently earned, it has to be Tom Brady. He deserves all of them. He may not have gotten those that were given to him by his teammates, but he definitely earned them.
The great thing about it is that his rings are unique: unlike those of so many other players. No other quarterback in NFL history has ever had more than two rings. Now that he has five, you can see just how special he is. I hope that he keeps getting them.
